 NEW DELHI: Entering the second and final day of the 18th BRICS Summit, global leaders are scheduled to convene for a crucial open session on Sunday to map out the future of international governance and shared economic progress. Hosted under India’s 2026 chairship, the session is titled “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth”.

Taking place at the Summit Hall inside New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, the high-level dialogue will allow leaders to address ongoing global uncertainties, climate targets, green finance, and supply-chain vulnerabilities. India’s current presidency emphasizes a human-centric approach across the technological spectrum, actively pushing for joint alliances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), FinTech, and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

Building on Day 1 Success

The open session follows a historic milestone achieved on Saturday, where member countries unanimously adopted the ‘New Delhi Declaration 2026’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the consensus, characterizing the modern BRICS alliance as a entity that is “wider in reach and stronger in purpose,” focusing heavily on development-oriented solutions and strengthening people-to-people bridges.

A Global Powerhouse

This expanded economic bloc wields incredible geopolitical influence, commanding roughly 49.5% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP, and over a quarter of all international trade.
