BRICS 2026: Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Applauds ‘New Delhi Declaration’, Says It Amplifies Global South’s Voice

 NEW DELHI: Following the successful consensus at the 18th BRICS Summit, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal hailed the unanimous adoption of the ‘New Delhi Declaration 2026’. Extending his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and fellow BRICS leaders, Goyal stated that the document embodies a collective determination to foster a resilient, innovation-driven, and fair global partnership.

In a post on social media platform X, the minister highlighted that the expanded BRICS grouping is scaling up its influence, effectively serving as a powerful, unified voice for the Global South.

A Blueprint for Tech and Economic Growth

Goyal emphasized that the declaration outlines a visionary roadmap focusing on high-tech integration, financial stability, and public welfare. Key highlights of the agreed framework include:

• Emerging Technologies: Deepening collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum computing.

• Digital Ecosystem: Strengthening Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) alongside boosting the growth of startups and MSMEs.

• Global Security: Improving multi-nation coordination to safeguard food, health, and energy resources, while building disruption-free global supply chains.

The declaration also pushes for a more robust role for the New Development Bank (NDB) and stresses accelerating socio-economic growth via Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
