Haiwaan Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Starrer Fails Monday Test, Struggles to Cross ₹10 Crore
Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan reunited on the big screen after a long gap of 18 years for the crime thriller ‘Haiwaan’. Directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, the film carried massive expectations from fans. However, despite the star-studded ensemble, the psychological drama has completely crashed at the domestic box office.
Released theatrically on September 11, 2026, the film has put up highly disappointing figures, failing to even cross the ₹10 crore mark in India after its first four days of release.

‘Haiwaan’ started its box office journey on a very low note, opening to just ₹3 crore on Friday. Due to mixed-to-negative reviews from both audiences and critics, the film saw no major growth over the weekend.
The biggest blow came on its first Monday (Day 4), where the collections took a massive nosedive:
• Opening Weekend (Fri – Sun): The film managed a low net collection of ₹7.35 crore in India.
• Day 4 (First Monday): The thriller witnessed a steep 62.2% drop, pulling in a meager ₹0.70 crore net from 3,265 shows nationwide.
• Total 4-Day India Net Collection: The cumulative domestic collection currently stands at ₹8.05 crore.
• Worldwide Gross: With an overseas gross addition of ₹3.00 crore, the global tally stands at a low ₹12.63 crore.
The Plot and Why the Film Underperformed
‘Haiwaan’ is the official Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s own 2016 Malayalam superhit film ‘Oppam’, which originally starred Mohanlal.
• The Avatars: The movie features Saif Ali Khan in a challenging role as Shyam, a visually impaired caretaker who gets trapped in a murder conspiracy. Akshay Kumar plays the ruthless, vengeful antagonist Parshuram.
• Reasons for Failure: According to tracking experts, the movie suffered due to an outdated, slow-paced screenplay. Furthermore, smaller star-power releases like Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanumansh Ansh continue to dominate the screens, completely overshadowing ‘Haiwaan’ at the ticket counters.
Trade predictions indicate that this project might end up becoming Akshay Kumar’s lowest-grossing film in the last 11 years.
