“South Africa Police Investigate After Ninth Woman’s Body Is Found in Ekurhuleni”

Johannesburg, September 17, 2026: South African police have intensified their investigation after the body of another woman was discovered in the Ekurhuleni area of Gauteng, bringing the number of women found dead in the region since July to nine.

The latest discovery was made in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, where the body of a woman believed to be around 30 years old was reportedly found near a construction site. Police said the circumstances surrounding her death are being investigated, with forensic examinations expected to provide further details.

Nine women found dead since July

The latest case has heightened concern because several women have been found dead at different locations across Ekurhuleni over the past two months.

The locations connected to the reported discoveries include Kempton Park, Pomona, Clayville, Olifantsfontein, Rhodesfield, KwaThema and Dawn Park.

Investigators are examining whether there are similarities between the cases. Some of the victims reportedly had injuries, while in several incidents the circumstances in which the bodies were discovered have raised questions.

However, police have not confirmed that all nine deaths were caused by the same person or that the cases form a single series of killings.

Special investigation team formed

Authorities have brought together investigators from different units to examine the cases and determine whether any links exist between them.

Investigators are reviewing forensic evidence, the circumstances surrounding each death and information about the victims in an effort to establish what happened.

Police have also urged members of the public not to circulate graphic images or unverified claims about the cases on social media, warning that misinformation could create unnecessary fear and potentially interfere with the investigation.

Arrests made in some cases

Police have confirmed that at least one suspect was arrested in connection with an earlier case. However, authorities have not established that the individual is responsible for the other deaths.

Investigators are continuing to examine separate cases individually while also looking for possible connections.

One of the cases that drew attention involved 38-year-old Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, who reportedly went out for a run in September and did not return home. Her body was later found and identified by her family.

Police appeal for information

Authorities are asking residents to report any information that could assist investigators, particularly details concerning missing women or suspicious activity in the areas where the bodies were discovered.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are working to determine whether the deaths are connected or whether they represent separate incidents occurring within the same broader region.

Officials have emphasized that conclusions about a possible connection between the cases should be based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
