 U.S. President Donald Trump has shared a map on Truth Social that labels the Strait of Hormuz as “Trump Strait,” as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain focused on the strategic waterway.

The post came as Iran put forward a seven-day proposal that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the United States accepts Tehran’s conditions.

Trump Shares ‘Trump Strait’ Map

Trump’s map uses the name “Trump Strait” for the Strait of Hormuz. The label comes directly from Trump’s social-media post and does not represent an internationally recognized official name change.

The Strait has become a major point of dispute during the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict because of its importance to international shipping and energy supplies.

Iran’s Seven-Day Proposal

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had sent Washington a concrete seven-day plan through Qatar.

According to Araghchi, if the necessary conditions are accepted, normal maritime traffic through the Strait could resume within seven days. The proposed timetable would begin once Washington accepts the plan.

The reported conditions include ending the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, easing sanctions affecting Iranian oil sales and a regional ceasefire. Reports also say the proposal includes restarting discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme.

The latest reports give different indications about Washington’s position.
