PoJK Unrest: Human Rights Council Demands Urgent Dialogue as Public Protests Complete 100 Days

RAWALAKOT: Expressing deep anxiety over the rapidly deteriorating situation, the Human Rights Council of PoJK (HRC-PoJK) has officially issued a stern warning regarding the prolonged civil unrest gripping the region. The independent rights watchdog highlighted that massive public demonstrations and strikes across major districts—including Rawalakot, Poonch, and Sudhnooti—have now successfully completed one hundred consecutive days.

According to the council’s press release, the persistent public dissatisfaction has birthed a severe atmosphere of psychological uncertainty and economic paralysis throughout the territory. Issuing a direct appeal to the administrative authorities and civil leaders, the council stated that “one hundred days are enough” and warned that any further intentional delay in establishing a honest, result-oriented democratic dialogue could trigger deep public frustration, severe mistrust, and absolute structural instability.

Deep Outcry Over the Arbitrary Arrest of Javed Arif Abbasi

In a parallel statement, the HRC-PoJK raised heavy red flags over the sudden arrest of Javed Arif Abbasi, a prominent member of the District Council Bagh. The advocacy group strongly asserted that voicing public grievances in a peaceful fashion remains a primary pillar of universal democratic rights.

The council demanded that if the state holds any valid legal accusations against Abbasi, he must be subjected to a transparent judicial procedure; failing this, he should be released immediately without any prerequisites.
